Background:
SwitchZoo.com is a Flash application that lets users play games with and create their own custom animals. The artwork, morphing effects and multitude of animal combinations in the Zoo are staggering and create a fun and exciting user experience. Switch Zoo is very popular among primary school children and has even been included in some classroom curriculums.Challenge:
The talented folks at Tubehead had a Flash 5 version of Switch Zoo running on their web server. It was frame based and very hard to maintain and expand. They envisioned a CD version that would have many more features and animals. The CD would link to their servers and allow users to send postcards and purchase merchandise.Solution:
They had Kalalau Enterprises create the new Switch Zoo Deluxe CD in Flash MX 2004 Pro. Switch Zoo Deluxe allows users to combine parts of over 140 animals together to form new animals! Many animals morph to their new parts and all the animals are complete with amazing facts and information. Users are invited to save, name and write stories about their new animals. The Flash Gift Shop lets users buy merchandise with the user's custom animal on them, such as puzzles, t-shirts, tote bags, mouse pads, etc.- ASP / MS Access based order entry and status management
