Background:
Econco builds and repairs power vacuum tubes used in radio broadcasting, manufacturing and radar for the United States Navy. They ship thousands of tubes each month to customers all over the world.Challenge:
An existing ASP/SQL application that tracks the tubes through the manufacturing process needed to be enhanced. Engineers needed to be able to maintain electrical specifications for each tube type. Tube testing technicians needed fast, efficient and user-friendly access to those specs and an equally efficient way of entering live test data for each tube they tested. They also needed a connected but functionally separate subsystem to track only the US Navy tubes. This subsystem contained additional security, reports and forms as required by their Navy contract.Solution:
They had Kalalau Enterprises start an ongoing series of Flash applications. The first set connected Flash to their existing databases and created better control and accuracy over their entire QA process. Highlights include:- ASP / SQL Server based data acquisition from manual and automated test consoles
- Group permissions based function and data access
- Contract management and QA data exporting to QA Analyst
- HPGL Printing module to print in-house and government forms complete with barcodes
- Complete integration into their existing HTML based manufacturing system.
