Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History - www.sbnature.org
Background:
For the opening of their newly renovated Sea Center on Stearns Wharf, the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History needed Flash to provide a new touchscreen exhibit that let visitors explore the tide pools and learn about the delicate balance of life there.
Challenge:
They needed a new exhibit that was engaging, entertaining and educational. Oh, and it had to allow them to change the exhibit without recompiling the Flash movie.
Solution:
They had us create the new exhibit in Flash MX 2004 utilizing XML control.
- Creates the exhibit on the fly using XML maintained by the museum staff.
- Allows the museum to change the exhibit without changing the Flash movie.
- Keeps usage statistics of visitor's explorations.
